“Yeah, but…”
HeatherO on 02 27, 2009

For most of our lives we’ve been fed the self defeating mantras that have been passed down for generations. You know the ones:
“better safe than sorry”
“don’t jump into things”
“be careful”
“be realistic” (my personal favorite!)
When you “have a dream”, they come out of the woodwork! Especially right now! All those well meaning folks caught up in the “recession obesession” will quickly tell you that this is “the worst possible time to ______(just fill in the blank!)”.
So it’s no wonder that our own “voice” is often quick to shut us down too!
How many times do you have an inspired thought or idea only to quickly talk yourself out of it?
Here’s a thought that came from Paul Martinelli:
Replace the “yeah, but’s” with “yes, and…”
Can you imagine how different we would be, how different the world would be if we just did that one simple thing?
Think about it! Visualize it! When you look back on your life, do you want to see footprints, or butt-prints!?!
