Do You Think Like a Kid?

Ironically I find that most people think like a kid when it’s not a good thing, and rarely do when they would be better off!  When it comes to doing things that make sense for their business, they act like little kids saying "but I want to have dessert without eating my vegetables!"

They want more business and more sales, but they don’t want to spend any time, any money, they don’t want to have to learn anything new or do anything different! When it comes to being fearless however, they think like grownups! They are too smart for their own good. Instead of trying things, they come up with a thousand reasons why it won’t work, or simply become paralyzed by the fear of every ‘what if’ they can think of!

A kid doesn’t eye the halloween candy bowl on top of the fridge and think ‘I can’t have that. I’m not smart enough or tall enough. If I tried to get it I might fall and get hurt. Why bother!" Instead, that 2 or 3 year old quickly surveys the room, pushes the kitchen table up to the fridge, stacks a chair on top and goes for it!" Ask yourself today how you might be doing one or both of these. Where can you recognize areas that you may be wanting more dessert? What vegetables do you need to eat?

I love this quote from Andy Andrews’ 7 Decisions of Personal Success (which I will paraphrase):

"Fear is the tragic misuse of the creative imagination that God gave you".

Today, ask yourself “What have I been avoiding out of fear?”
“What vegetables to I need to eat in order to have more dessert?
