Thanks Michelle! Happy you liked it ;)
Yes, I hadn't thought of it exactly that way before either.
Irony is, if I hadn't been driving to the hospital, I wouldn't have had that long literal drive on that long winding road to give me the thought! :)

Heather: When I reflect on my life and accomplishments, I'm quite amazed where I ended up. And I do reflect on the “What if I took that sportswriting job in Hagerstown, MD way back in the 80s — where would I be now?” Or, if I followed my heart instead of my head in that relationship back in Maryland, what would I be doing? I don't think there are mistakes in our journeys. It really is all destiny. Happy Friday.

Oh SOOOO true Diane! That's why I don't see how you can have regrets in life. Even the things that seem crummy! Each and everyone one of those tiny twists, turns and decisions have led us exactly where we should be!
thanks so much for commenting :)

Great post, Heather! It is funny how our “old self” can pop up like that…and it's usually in times that we are traveling on a bumpy road. Yes, I believe that the rewards are the new people, places, and experiences that our 'detours' often lead us to, serendipitously! And…when we surround ourselves with like-minded, positive people…it is easier to quiet that “old self”!

Sendng loving thoughts to you and your Grandmother!
