Years ago in my real estate career, I grimaced when October rolled around. I always did. I believed that the year was over. I mean ‘nobody buys or sells real estate during the holidays’, right?

Well, not that year. I remembered all too well the Christmas before, and from a financial standpoint it was, well…painful.

I decided it wouldn’t be that way again. That particular year hadn’t been stellar to begin with, so I was left thinking “if I’ve only done this much ALL year, what can I possibly do in only the last couple of months ESPECIALLY with the holidays?

I decided that I just had to decide, and then move! So, I set a goal to make $30,000 by the end of the year. Now mind you, I had only made that much in the first 6 months of that year!

But nonetheless, I decided. I had no idea how I would do it, but I did. By January I had earned $36,000 in commissions.

I had no prospects, no pending sales, no idea how I would do it, but I did.

I decided, and I took action!

Will YOU?

I have created an accountability & support group that will meet each week, for those who are truly committed to learning lifelong goal achievement skills, and having accountability to ensure success. But, you don’t have to join to make progress.

In fact, if you aren’t sure if you are truly committed, I would prefer that you didn’t.

If that is the case, feel free to just grab a buddy, and follow this list of steps.

13 Simple Steps Toward Goal Achievement:

• Get clear on what you want to accomplish.

• Write down what ‘it” is.

• Make a ‘public’ commitment (to somebody!)

• Break it down into steps.

• Write down what you need in order to accomplish it.

• Make a commitment to take a step toward it EVERY day!

• Plan what that step will be the night before.

• Write down that step & put it where you will see it first thing!

• Get a buddy that you will ‘report to’ as you progress (& get encouragement from:)

• Check off that step, and update your buddy every day
  

• Focus on the prize! Create a reward for your accomplishment
  

• Post a visual reminder of ‘the prize’ someplace that you will see it every day.
  

• Visualize yourself in action daily! Visualize the prize, and the feeling of accomplishment every day!

It’s not too late to “Win 2010!”

You simply have to commit to it, and take steps every single day!

• What is TEDx?

  In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TED has created a program called TEDx. TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. Our event is called TEDxRDU, where x=independently organized TED event. At our TEDxRDU event, TEDTalks video and live speakers will combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events, including ours, are self-organized.

As you may know, my next 2010 Vision group starts tomorrow.  Typically the majority of folks who sign up do so the night before. Well last night I discovered that the time zone setting was incorrect in some back end dark corner of my website which meant that the registration showed as expired as of 7pm!

UGH! I hate it when that happens!

But, as we all know sometimes stuff just happens! What do you do?
